Dr. Darcy McConnell brings her broad expertise in Functional Medicine, prevention, mind-body medicine, and women’s health to Blum Center for Health. She is board certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine, with postgraduate training from the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. McConnell received her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine, and went on to complete a residency in Family Medicine at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. She then served for four years as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Stony Brook, with a busy clinical practice, as well as teaching responsibility for medical students and residents. In her medical practice, Dr. McConnell’s strong convictions about transformative lifestyle medicine compel her to truly understand each patient and tailors their care uniquely to improve their health and well-being.
At Blum Center, Dr. McConnell adopts a functional approach to autoimmunity, hormonal health, cardiometabolic disease, gastrointestinal issues, and overall wellness. With every patient, she is intent on uncovering the root cause of any illness or imbalance in the functioning systems of the body. Dr. McConnell designs a unique program for each person based on pointed individualized testing, resulting in treatments for the gut, detoxification, dietary and nutritional adjustments, herbal supplementation if needed, and mind-body support for stress reduction.
Dr. McConnell lives with her husband and three sons and enjoys the outdoors, hiking, swimming, and gardening. She also loves to cook healthy meals for her family and friends and is an avid tennis player. She continues her journey as a yoga and meditation practitioner. Recognizing the ever-evolving nature of these practices, Dr. McConnell enjoys discovering new and exciting techniques to connect mind and body throughout one’s life, which she enthusiastically shares with her patients.
